This is my cousin Ling on my dad’s side. Her sister May’s a little older than my older sister and Ling is a little older than me. But we’re both born in the year of the dog. Woof Woof! Anyway, Ling was in Paso Robles last week and so I asked her for some food recommendations since there are really not many eating options on base. The following places were the ones she recommended. The first 2 places, I got the food to go, but tonight, I went to dinner by myself. Yes, I sat solo and pretended not to notice the other patrons looking at me wondering why I had no friends. Tonight, my iPhone was my friend as I continued reading Twilight 4: Breaking Dawn. Soon, I will be able to talk about it with Judith and then our marriage will ascend to the next level…the Twilight level.

Camp Roberts was about 15 minutes north of Paso Robles

Downtown is pretty quaint and a good place to chill

Known for their amazing French Toast, but I got here too late. =(

Did the Pork Belly Vietnamese sandwich with side of quinoa salad.
Sandwich (4/5) – overall really good, what kind of kept it from the 5 was the egg. Don’t get me wrong, I love fried eggs, but this egg seemed to overpower the other flavors in the sandwich.
Quinoa Salad (5/5) – Judith introduced me to this weird looking stuff. I really dig it.

Here’s a shot of the park in the middle of the downtown area.

The 2nd place recommended by cousin Ling…

Raspberry-Chipotle Chicken Panini (4/5) – Also really good sandwich. I ate half and saved half for the next day breakfast

3rd place recommended was Il Cortile

The Yelp consensus was Osso Buco.
Lamb Osso Buco (4/5) – Excellent. The meat fell right off the bone and the sauce was magical. Would’ve loved to try the pork osso buco…

Can’t go to an Italian place without trying their Tiramisu
Tiramisu (4/5) – Great dessert to completely destroy my earlier 3 mile run
Maybe someday I’ll bring the wifey up here for a weekend getaway…
Can’t wait to come home and see my familia.
